photography is my happy place

Whether it's looking through my lens, looking through my digital files, looking through my printed pics, browsing a beautiful book or visiting an exhibition I am just a massive fan of photography!  On my home page I've set out a bit about my background but I think it's more important to tell you:

a) What I believe about photography, which you can read below;

b) What my clients say about working with me, which I have included in testimonies on this page and every page of my portfolio.  Have a look and get in touch if you want to chat.

5 Things that i believe to be true:

1) We all deserve a selfie-free, creative reflection of ourselves with our families that generations to come can enjoy when they are rummaging about in boxes in the attic.

2) In our careers it should be normalised that we have a professional profile photo that shows us in a position of excellence. Whether it's LinkedIn or on your MS icon, digging out a photo from a wedding shouldn't be how you put yourself forward. If your employer won't invest in a professional photographer for you, it should be affordable and acceptable for you to get your own.

3) Photos should be printed. I've learned more about the characters of my older relatives through rummaging through photos of prints in the attic than from any other source. But it's not just about the past. Having family photos around the house can boost children's self-esteem and sense of belonging (there is much research to support this). And beautiful photography can make just the best bespoke wall art in your home.

4) Portrait photography is a skill and an art. Yes we all have brilliant digital cameras in our pockets, but that doesn't mean we all take brilliant photos. I have studied composition, lighting, portraiture and storytelling. I regularly attend training to enhance my skills and creativity. I invest in the best photography kit I can to give you the best photos I can but even if I just had your mobile I would aim to give you better photos than you have now. Bold claim? Message me and I will send you some of my iPhone pics to show you what I mean.

5) Kids should be kids. If you want pictures of your kids but they will only wear PJs or their Spiderman costume that's fine. Let's capture them as they are. I will not airbrush or filter them. They face enough pressure in this regard these days. I am not your photographer if you're looking for an OK! magazine style shoot. I will happily recommend brilliant photographers who can deliver that for you.

“Emma, you are so so talented. All the pictures are perfect - the details, the light, the colours - and I can't thank you enough! I've already had loads of compliments on the 'super chic' photography. I am so grateful for your hard work and time. I honestly can't believe that I have these pictures!”
